Gregor Mendel
He was born July 20, 1822 and died January 6, 1884. He was born in an ethnic German family. Son of Anton and Rosine Mendel. When Mendel entered the Faculty of Philosophy, the Department of Natural History and Agriculture was headed by Johann Karl Nester, who conducted extensive research of hereditary traits of plants and animals, when he was born he was Johann Mendel but changed it to Gregor Mendel because of religious life. He gained fame as the founder of the new science of genetics. He was known as the "father of modern genetics". In 1854 he figured out that the traits of an offspring is a mix of the parents traits. So he used pea plants to test his theory because of their distinct varieties. He crossed fertilized plants that were clearly different. By doing this he came to the conclusion called Law of Segregation. which meant that there was a dominant and a recessive traits that were passed from the parents to the offspring. Besides breeding plants Mendel later on bred bees in a bee house made for him. But the experiment failed do to the behavior of the queen bee. Mendel's work was not passed until after he died because most scientist thought that it happened threw breeding heredity.
Charles Darwin thought that over time animals formed to the environment like the finches some have big beaks for cracking nuts. Gregor Mendel proved this by using pea plants.
