George Buffon was born into a wealthy family. George's mother's name was Anne-Christine Marlin and his father's name was Benjamin-Francois Leclerc. George's name was George-louis Leclerc until 1725. He was the eldest child of his parents 5 kids. When George was 10 his mom inherited quite a bit of money allowing Benjamin Leclerc to become lord of Buffon and Montbard (name of the estate Anne inherited). In 1717 the family moved into a nice house in Dijon and George went to Jesuit College of Godrans and was educated there until 1723. Despite his interest in math George went on to study law as his father wanted. In 1728 he went to Angers to study mathematics , George also studied things like medicine and botany.
